Robert Johnson

Johnson’s 1936 version is a reworking of  “Rollin’ and Tumblin’”.  This blues standard is attributed to two early blues masters: McKinley Morganfield aka Muddy Waters, or Hambone Willie Newburn who recorded “Roll and Tumble Blues” in 1929.

It has been covered in various guises by many iconic blues artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker and Elmore James as well as artists such as  Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton / Cream and Bob Dylan.
